Meet Buddy

Meet Buddy! Buddy is a 3-year-old Borador (Border Collie/Lab). He is a valiant, loyal steed.

He’s my best friennn, my favorite adventure partner, my permanent shadow, and my winy, needy, fur-child. I’m annoyed when he’s around, I miss him when he’s away, and love him the most when he’s exhausted and half-dead cuddling with me.

He’s obsessed with swimming but HATES baths, he’s terrified of plastic bags, HATES having his paws touched, loves having his teeth brushed, chases critters just to lick them, and he’s the most loyal creature on the planet.

I’ve always been that “adopt don’t shop” kind of dog owner. However, I also don’t believe that you should just go to the shelter and pick out any dog. As cheesy as it sounds – I believe the dog picks you. You know when it’s the right dog when you meet them. I bounced from shelter to shelter looking over and over and I just didn’t find the right one.

I actually came across buddy on a Facebook yard sale site. They weren’t “selling” their animal, they just wanted a great home for their dog. They said he was being locked in a crate for 14+ hours a day, and didn’t have time for him. Don’t get me started on how I feel about that…

I met Buddy for the first time in a public park where he was laying on his back, legs spread wide open, sunbathing, with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. I knew instantly – this is my dog.

He’s super classy.

He came into my life right after I had purchased my own home for the very first time by myself. The house came equipped with a doggie door and I knew I was going to use it.

He’s the best roommate I’ve ever had. He doesn’t care if I look homeless, if I have clothes on or not, if I yell at him for doing something stupid, if I want to hike for hours or sit on my ass all day watching TV while using him as a pillow. He adores me.

You’ll see him featured in almost all of my hiking posts

Dogs really are the best and we really don’t deserve them. I’m constantly telling him “Thanks for being such a tolerant animal. Sorry for not being a tolerant human.”

And just in case you haven’t seen anything super awesome today, here’s my husband doing squats with my dog.

You. Are. welcome.

  1. I could not refrain from commenting. Perfectly written! I have
been surfing online more than 2 hours today, yet I never found any
interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for
me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will
be much more useful than ever before. I have been surfing online greater than three hours today, but I never found any attention-grabbing
article like yours. It’s beautiful price enough for me.
In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made just right content as you probably did, the net will likely be a lot more helpful than ever
    before.
